For the third straight season in a row, the Georgia Bulldogs have clinched the SEC’s Eastern division. Punching their ticket to Atlanta for the 2023 SEC Championship.  The Dawgs clinched the division after the Tennessee Volunteers suffered a loss to the Missouri Tigers earlier this afternoon. With the loss, there is no mathematical possibility that the Volunteers, even though the Bulldogs have yet to defeat their opponent for the day, the Ole Miss Rebels. United Nations member countries should deny Russia and China seats on the UN Human Rights Council in voting at the UN General Assembly on October 10, 2023, Human Rights Watch said today. The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) is currently searching off the coast of Charleston for a 31-foot vessel – the Carol Anne — that went missing off of Brunswick Georgia on Wednesday, Oct. 18.  Three boaters are reported to be on the vessel, according to the USCG: Dalton Conway, Caleb Wilkinson and Tyler Barlow. The vessel was supposed to port Tuesday or Wednesday to meet their shipment, but never showed up. The owner of the boat contacted USCG Sector Charleston on Friday to report the missing vessel. Leaders of the Georgia Senate confirmed they’ll announce Thursday the creation of a Senate subcommittee to investigate conditions at the overcrowded Fulton County Jail. Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat has called the situation a “humanitarian crisis.” and has partially blamed the jail’s severe overcrowding on the district attorney’s office, saying prosecutors aren’t getting through a backlog of cases fast enough. Fulton County commissioners are considering a $1.7 billion plan to build a replacement facility for the aging jail.
