UK intelligence emphasizes that efforts to overcome ground-based air defense systems remain one of the most important confrontations in the Russian war against Ukraine.
This is stated in the review of the British Ministry of Defense on December 3, European Pravda reports.
The department noted that the Tor short-range anti-aircraft missile system plays a critical role for the occupying forces of the Russian Federation. It is in service with air defense units of the Russian Army and is designed to protect the front line of ground forces.
At the same time, the Pantsir air defense systems usually protect command posts, longer-range air defense systems and air bases of the Russian occupiers.
The occupiers are now especially actively using the Tor air defense system to counter Ukrainian drones. This complex actually acts as the front line of the air defense network of the Russian occupation forces in Ukraine.
Intelligence indicates that one of the key limitations of the Tor air defense system in the Russian war against Ukraine is probably the endurance of its crew.
“Given that there are only three people per system, maintaining a high level of combat readiness for long periods of time is likely to be an extreme test of endurance,” the report said.
In a previous review, British intelligence reported how the Kremlin is trying to contain the protests of the mothers and wives of mobilized women.
Meanwhile, Estonian intelligence believes that Russia’s budget for 2024 will allow it to withstand the current intensity of hostilities in the war against Ukraine.
