An acoustic performance of the Georgian entry for Eurovision 2023 has been released ahead of the contest in the United Kingdom.
As the 67th Eurovision Song Contest draws ever closer, an acoustic version of the Georgian entry has been released. The acoustic version see’s Iru joined by Nika Nikvashvili on the piano, you can watch the performance below:
“Echo” was written and composed by Giga Kukhiadnidze and Iru herself. Giga has written most of the Georgian Junior Eurovision entries, including all three of their winning entries. Iru also co-wrote “I Believe”, the Georgian entry for Junior Eurovision 2022.
Who is Iru?
Irina “Iru” Khechanovi, better known as Iru, was born on December 3 2000 in Tbilisi. She is of Armenian descent. As a child, she took part in various singing competitions.
In 2011, she was chosen to represent Georgia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest as part of the group Candy. Candy went on to win the contest in Yerevan, which was also held on Iru’s birthday.
Iru was selected to represent Georgia at Eurovision 2023 after winning the fifth season of The Voice Georgia.
